Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said he would not leave Sindh without holding a PTI rally in Karachi. His remarks came as his convoy travelled from Hyderabad towards the provincial capital on Sunday.
Afridi is accompanied by PTI Sindh President Junaid Akbar during the visit. The party is conducting a five-day mobilisation campaign ahead of its September 27 nationwide protest.
Afridi Insists Rally Will Be Held
Speaking to reporters during the journey, Afridi said the planned gathering would take place regardless of delays. He stated that he would remain in Sindh until the party launched its movement in Karachi.
Afridi said PTI would hold the rally the next day if it could not reach Karachi on time. He added that the objective would be achieved even if additional days were required.
The campaign aims to build support for PTI’s planned protest across the country. The party is demanding the release of its founder Imran Khan and immediate medical treatment for him.
KP Chief Minister Criticises Roadblocks
Afridi also referred to recent comments made by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. He questioned why roadblocks were allegedly being placed along the convoy’s route despite public statements welcoming the visit.
The KP chief minister asked Bilawal to identify those responsible if the actions were not being directed by the provincial government. He argued that the Sindh government and police were accountable for maintaining order.
Afridi further claimed that the people of Sindh would seek answers regarding the restrictions. He challenged authorities to clarify who was behind the alleged obstacles facing the convoy.
The PTI leader reiterated that he would stay in Sindh until the planned Karachi gathering takes place. His convoy continued its journey towards the city late Sunday night.
