Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has launched the ‘Solarization of Houses’ project, aimed at providing solar energy solutions to households across the province.
In the first phase, a total of 32,500 households will receive free solar power units under the initial category of the program, according to an official statement issued on Saturday. Each unit includes solar panels, batteries, fans, lights, and other essential accessories to ensure sustainable electricity supply.
The selection of beneficiaries was carried out through an e-balloting system to ensure transparency. The initiative has generated an overwhelming response, with over 2.538 million online applications submitted for solar system allocation, reflecting strong public interest in the project.
The provincial government has allocated Rs20 billion for the initiative, underscoring its commitment to expanding renewable energy solutions and reducing reliance on conventional electricity sources.
