Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly returned to the UK for an extended stay with their children. The couple has also enrolled Archie and Lilibet in school for the autumn term, according to reports.
Their return has renewed attention on King Charles III’s decision to remove them from Frogmore Cottage in 2023. The move followed the publication of Harry’s memoir, Spare, which revealed several private royal family disputes.
Frogmore Cottage was gifted to Harry and Meghan by Queen Elizabeth II before their 2018 wedding. The property formed part of the Crown Estate and previously served as their UK residence.
Harry and Meghan Reportedly Settle in Cotswolds
The Sussexes have reportedly found a new home in the Cotswolds, an area known for affluent residents and wealthy London homeowners. However, the exact location of their reported property remains undisclosed.
King Charles still owns Highgrove House in the area, where Harry spent much of his childhood. Furthermore, the Cotswolds sits relatively close to Althorp, the family home of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.
Reports suggest the couple recently appeared in the area before Jay-Z’s London performances on September 4 and 5. Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan are expected to retain their California mansion in Montecito and their Portugal property.
Local Residents Welcome Harry’s Return
The reported move has generated mixed reactions among residents and royal watchers. Rachael Jones, from near Burford, said she hoped Harry’s return could help repair family relationships.
She also expressed hope that the move could support reconciliation between Harry and his older brother, Prince William. Meanwhile, former Highgrove gardener Charles Davis said Harry would naturally want to return because Britain remains his home.
Davis also recalled Harry’s fondness for the Rattlebone Inn near Sherston. The area has attracted several celebrities, including David and Victoria Beckham, Ellen DeGeneres and Liam Gallagher.
Reports have also previously linked Beyoncé and Jay-Z to potential property purchases nearby. Consequently, Harry and Meghan’s reported move has placed the Cotswolds back under royal attention.
