Winter Holidays
In response to the escalating winter conditions, the Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially declared an extension of winter holidays for both public and private educational institutions until January 7, following the lead of Punjab.
A notification released by the provincial education department emphasizes this decision, confirming the closure of schools throughout the province until the specified date due to the prevailing freezing temperatures.
This prolongation mirrors similar actions taken in Punjab, where the intensity of winter has necessitated a lengthening of school holidays. Beyond weather-related concerns, the extension is also attributed to the scheduling of teacher election training sessions, contributing to the adjustment of the school reopening date.
The primary objective of this decision is to prioritize the safety of students, teachers, and staff, recognizing the difficulties posed by the current weather conditions in educational institutions across the region.
Punjab Government Issues Snowfall Alert For Murree Tourists, Sets Up Facilitation Centers
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the interim government of Punjab issued a warning for tourists heading to Murree and nearby attractions to witness snowfall, implementing measures to ensure safety and prevent a recurrence of the tragic events in 2022 when 22 individuals lost their lives in Murree due to a snowstorm.
Facilitation centers have been established by the authorities to guide tourists during snowfall, with the aim of providing assistance and avoiding incidents.
The provincial government has emphasized the importance of tourists taking necessary safety precautions before embarking on their journey to Murree.
Three facilitation centers operated by the Tourism and Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) located at Mall Road, Kashmir Point, and Bansra Gali are actively offering guidance to tourists. These centers operate around the clock, providing support to both local and foreign tourists.
The Secretary of Tourism in Punjab has assured that essential items such as petrol and meals have been arranged for tourists at these centers, underscoring the commitment to ensuring the well-being of visitors during their snowfall experience.
