Khawaja Asif
Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly condemned what he referred to as a “new conspiracy” against Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, particularly criticizing the recent social media campaign targeting him.
During a press conference in Islamabad, where he was joined by Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Asif vowed to take legal action against those orchestrating this campaign.
He emphasized that the state will not tolerate any threats or calls for the Chief Justice’s assassination.
Asif expressed his concern over the inflammatory remarks circulating about Chief Justice Isa and suggested that these attacks are part of a broader agenda influenced by external negative forces.
He firmly stated, “The state will not allow anyone to issue a fatwa for the murder of anyone,” underlining that the law will be upheld to counteract these “negative elements.”
The Defense Minister accused those behind the social media campaign of trying to silence a prominent judicial figure who is known for his commitment to justice and truth.
Asif highlighted that the Supreme Court had already issued a clear statement regarding the attacks on Chief Justice Isa, reinforcing that the judiciary remains steadfast in its role.
Criticizing the ongoing false propaganda, Asif clarified that Chief Justice Isa has no connection to the controversial statements or decisions being falsely attributed to him.
He suggested that certain individuals are exploiting the situation for personal or political gain, which he denounced as an unjust manipulation of the circumstances.
Asif also addressed the issue of baseless accusations, reminding the public that there are established systems within the state to handle such matters, and emphasized that unfounded claims will not be entertained.
He concluded by affirming that the belief in the finality of prophethood is a fundamental aspect of Islam, reinforcing the importance of maintaining respect and integrity in discussions related to faith.
