Katy Perry has opened up about the difficult period following her breakup with Orlando Bloom and revealed the unexpected person who changed her life.
The 41-year-old singer has reflected on one of the most challenging periods of her life, including the end of her long relationship with actor Orlando Bloom and the emotional struggles surrounding her career.
Perry, who shares daughter Daisy with Bloom, said she continued performing despite going through a difficult personal period. She described her latest tour as a major turning point and said it helped her rediscover her sense of purpose.
“I learned how to step back into my purpose,” Perry said, describing the biggest gift she received from the tour.
She then made a surprising revelation, saying she had met the “love of my life” while on the road.
That person was Justin Trudeau, the former Canadian prime minister.
From Heartbreak to a New Romance
Perry launched her Lifetimes Tour in April 2025, around the same period that her relationship with Bloom was facing difficulties.
Months later, representatives confirmed Perry and Bloom had ended their relationship after years together. The breakup became public while Perry was in Australia, far from many of her closest friends.
Looking back, Perry described that period as one of the hardest times in her life.
“It was probably the hardest time,” she said, recalling how she felt isolated while her friends were back home.
Perry said she was crying and struggling emotionally, but added that her friends eventually stepped up to support her.
How Did Justin Trudeau Enter the Picture?
Perry said she met Trudeau during her tour, after which her personal life began to change.
Romance speculation surrounding the two intensified in late July when Perry and Trudeau were reportedly seen having dinner together in Montreal.
Just two days later, Trudeau was spotted attending one of Perry’s concerts with his daughter.
Trudeau has three children from his previous marriage to Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.
Although Perry has largely kept details of the relationship private, her latest comments offer one of her clearest public references to the romance.
Perry Says She Is “Living Her Life”
Perry is now looking ahead rather than rushing into another major musical project.
The singer said she is not in a hurry to release new music and is instead focused on experiencing life and gathering new experiences that could eventually inspire her songwriting.
“I’m living my life,” she said, explaining that she wants to have experiences she can later write about.
Her comments came as her concert film, Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour—Live From Paris, arrived in theatres and IMAX for a limited release.
For Perry, the tour appears to have become more than a series of concerts. It marked a period of personal recovery, a new chapter after heartbreak and, according to the singer herself, an unexpected meeting with the person she now calls the “love of my life.”
