ISLAMABAD: During his visit to Karachi on Friday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir received a briefing on the “repatriation of illegal foreigners” and other issues at a Provincial Apex Committee meeting, as stated by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Upon arriving in the port city, the army chief was received by Commander Karachi Corps.

A statement from the military’s media wing revealed that the meeting addressed topics such as the revised National Action Plan, operations in the Kacha (riverine) area, security measures for foreign workers engaged in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in the province, and other private initiatives. Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar also attended the meeting.
The ISPR further stated that the high-level discussion also provided an update to the army chief on foreign currency regularization measures, the Karachi Transformation Plan, Progress on the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) initiatives, and the Green Sindh initiatives.
General Munir, during the event, expressed the government’s and law enforcement agencies’ commitment to combat illegal activities in the country.
The army chief emphasized that law enforcement agencies and government departments would continue their actions against a range of illegal activities with full force, aiming to prevent resource pilferage and economic losses that the country incurs due to such activities.
He stressed the necessity for collaboration among all relevant departments to ensure the successful implementation of these significant initiatives.
The participants reaffirmed their unity in working towards the progress and prosperity of the province, as per the ISPR.
Afghan Nationals Implicated in Karachi Street Crimes Amidst Deadline
It’s noteworthy that the caretaker government had previously announced a November 1 deadline for illegal “aliens” to leave the country. This decision came following a deadly suicide blast in Balochistan’s Mastung, where Afghan nationals or Afghan soil were reportedly implicated in several recent terror incidents in Pakistan.
Today, Karachi’s Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Khadim Hussain Rind, revealed that Afghan citizens have been involved in street crimes in Karachi. Rind informed that Afghan citizens have been engaged in various street crimes in Karachi, including those resulting in fatalities.
