Two suspected thieves allegedly posed as plumbers to gain entry into a house in Karachiโs Azizabad area. They reportedly stole 16 tolas of gold jewellery and Rs50,000 in cash before escaping.
The incident occurred on August 28 at house number R-186 in Asif Nagar Block 9, Azizabad. Women and elderly family members were reportedly present inside the house at the time.
Suspects Allegedly Gained Familyโs Trust
According to the victim, the head of the family met two men while leaving home to offer prayers. The men allegedly introduced themselves as plumbers.
After returning from prayers, the man reportedly found the same suspects at his residence. They claimed they had arrived to carry out plumbing work.
Because of their earlier interaction, the family trusted the men and allowed them inside the house. The suspects allegedly used the opportunity to carry out the robbery.
During the supposed plumbing work, the men reportedly stole 16 tolas of gold jewellery and Rs50,000 in cash. They then fled the residence.
CCTV Footage Given to Police
The family has handed CCTV footage of the incident to police. The suspectsโ faces are reportedly clearly visible in the footage.
The footage could help investigators identify the alleged thieves and trace their whereabouts. Police are expected to examine the recording as part of their investigation.
Meanwhile, attempts were made to contact Joharabad Police Station SHO Yousuf Mehar for further information. However, no response was received.
The incident has raised concerns about criminals using deception to gain access to residential properties. Authorities are expected to investigate the suspectsโ identities and determine whether they have been involved in similar incidents.
