Karachi police arrested several suspects, including known extortionists, in a late-night raid at Qadri House in Nazimabad. SSP Dr. Imran Khan, head of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Karachi, confirmed the arrests but clarified that Pakistan Sunni Tehreek chief Sarwat Ijaz Qadri was not detained.
Among those arrested were Jawad Qadri, also known as Khawaja, and Mullah Shahzeb.
Police stated that the suspects were wanted in multiple cases for operating an extortion network across Karachi.
Operation Based on Intelligence
The raid followed information provided by Rehan, a suspect previously arrested for extortion and firearm incidents in Jamshed Quarters.
Acting on this intelligence, police conducted a targeted operation at Qadri House. Officials reported recovering a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, mobile phones, and gold ornaments from the suspects’ possession.
Police also revealed that the arrested individuals were allegedly in contact with the Samad Kathiawadi group.
Many of the suspects have prior criminal records, and further investigations are ongoing.
Pakistan Sunni Tehreek Condemns the Raid
The Pakistan Sunni Tehreek condemned the police action, alleging misuse of force during the operation.
Its spokesperson claimed that office-bearers and workers of the Karachi Division were arrested, and security cameras at Qadri House were allegedly damaged to conceal police activity.
The party emphasized that the “voice of truth cannot be suppressed through force.”
Ongoing Crackdown Against Crime Networks
SSP Imran Khan stated that 21 accused had been arrested in the past week as part of continued operations against extortion networks.
Police reported that five encounters occurred between SIU teams and suspects, resulting in the arrest of two extortionists and three other criminals in injured condition.
The crackdown also targeted drug trafficking and street crimes.
Authorities recovered nine kilograms of hashish and heroin and arrested four gang members involved in street offenses.
Future Operations and Enforcement
Police confirmed that the SIU and CIA units remain actively engaged in dismantling extortion networks operating locally and abroad.
Cases have been registered at Sukhun, Surjani, Tipu Sultan, and Jamshed Quarters police stations. The authorities stressed that the operation aims to curb organized crime, protect citizens, and maintain law and order in Karachi.
