KARACHI: Police have arrested a facilitator and an accomplice in connection with an incident in which 59 girls were allegedly lured to a farmhouse in Gadap Town on the promise of jobs and had their mobile phones confiscated.
According to investigators, the main suspect and farmhouse manager introduced himself as Salman but has been identified as Babar. He remains at large, while police are conducting raids to arrest him.
Police said Babar allegedly used a mobile SIM registered in another person’s name to conceal his identity.
The incident occurred on September 30 after a job advertisement appeared on social media. The girls were told they would attend interviews and later participate in event-related training.
They were transported to a private farmhouse in two buses. Upon arrival, they were reportedly informed that recording was prohibited and instructed to hand over their mobile phones.
A man identified as Sahil Salman allegedly collected the phones in a bag before leaving the farmhouse with an accomplice.
The affected girls subsequently reached Gadap Town police station and reported the incident. Police then raided the farmhouse and detained its manager Waqas and coordinator Nargis.
Malir police said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Authorities are examining the circumstances and possible motives behind the incident while continuing efforts to arrest the suspects who fled with the phones.
