ISLAMABAD: Karachi Kings all-rounder Aamir Jamal has been fined 5% of his match fee for a Level 1 offence committed during his team’s two-wicket victory against Peshawar Zalmi in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Monday night.
Jamal was found guilty of breaching Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which pertains to using language, actions, or gestures that could provoke an aggressive reaction from a dismissed batter. The incident occurred in the 15th over of Zalmi’s innings at the National Bank Cricket Stadium when Jamal made an inappropriate remark after dismissing Hussain Talat.
On-field umpires Faisal Khan Afridi and Paul Reiffel reported the violation. Jamal accepted responsibility and the penalty handed down by match referee Iftikhar Ahmed.
Despite the disciplinary action, Karachi Kings clinched a thrilling win, chasing down 148 on a sluggish pitch with three balls to spare. Hasan Ali sealed the win with a boundary after the Kings were in trouble at 133 for 8 following Shan Warner’s departure in the 17th over.
Warner was instrumental with a well-paced 60 off 47 deliveries, forming vital partnerships with Saad Baig, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Khushdil Shah. Khushdil remained unbeaten on 23 off 17 balls, finishing the game with three boundaries in the final overs.
The Kings’ chase had a rocky start, losing opener Tim Seifert for a golden duck and James Vince soon after, putting them under early pressure.
Aamir Jamal, who previously made headlines for wearing a political slogan on his cap during a Test series against England last year, is no stranger to controversy.
Karachi Kings will next take on Quetta Gladiators in their sixth fixture of PSL 10 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on April 25.
