In a dramatic incident in Karachi, unidentified robbers faced unexpected resistance when a hotel owner, Daulat Agha, pulled out his gun in self-defense. The confrontation, captured on video, showed the robbers visibly startled and pleading with Agha not to open fire.
The incident, which occurred on February 24 in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, gained widespread attention after the video went viral on social media. In the footage, three robbers, two of them armed and with covered faces, attempted to enter Agha’s hotel. Customers were seen taking cover under tables as both sides pointed their guns at each other, but no loss of life was reported.
Daulat Agha recounted the incident, stating that one of the robbers was on alert while the other two attempted to carry out the robbery. Agha, prepared for self-defense with a loaded gun, warned the robbers against their actions. In the face of Agha’s armed resistance, one of the robbers pleaded with him not to shoot, and Agha instructed them to leave.
The incident highlights the rising street crimes in Karachi, with armed robbers reportedly killing 23 citizens in the city during January and February. The Inspector General of Police reported a significant number of mobile phone snatching incidents, car thefts, and motorbike thefts during the same period.
Karachi has been grappling with an increase in crime, and the video of Daulat Agha’s bold stand against the robbers serves as a stark example of the challenges faced by citizens and business owners. Authorities are urged to address the underlying issues contributing to the surge in criminal activities, and citizens are advised to take precautions to ensure their safety in a challenging security environment.
