Hot and Humid Conditions Grip the City
Karachi entered the first phase of a heatwave on Tuesday, with meteorologists warning that temperatures will continue to rise gradually over the coming days. Authorities have advised residents to take precautionary measures as hot and humid weather tightens its grip across the city.
According to weather forecasts, the maximum temperature today is expected to range between 37°C and 39°C. However, due to elevated humidity levels, residents may experience significantly higher felt temperatures, creating stifling and uncomfortable conditions throughout the day.
Experts noted that the combination of heat and moisture in the air could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly among children, senior citizens and outdoor workers. Consequently, health officials have urged people to limit unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
Authorities Urge Precautionary Measures
Meanwhile, weather experts expect the intensity of the heatwave to strengthen over the next several days. The persistent humid conditions are likely to make temperatures feel considerably higher than the actual readings, increasing discomfort across Karachi.
In response, authorities have advised citizens to remain hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoiding direct exposure to sunlight, especially between late morning and early evening. Residents have also been encouraged to wear light clothing and seek shaded or air-conditioned environments whenever possible.
Furthermore, medical professionals have warned that prolonged exposure to extreme heat may lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Therefore, they recommend immediate medical attention for anyone experiencing dizziness, weakness or excessive fatigue.
As the heatwave develops, officials continue to monitor weather conditions closely. Residents are urged to stay informed through official forecasts and follow safety guidelines to reduce health risks during the expected spell of intense heat across the metropolitan city.
