Palestinian Statehood
Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar passionately appealed for an end to the ‘carnage’ in Gaza and called for the establishment of a viable Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders.
Addressing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit in Riyadh on Saturday, Kakar urged world powers to promptly initiate a ceasefire in Gaza. Additionally, he advocated for the OIC to explore the possibility of approaching the International Court of Justice to address Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.

Kakar emphasized the solemn commitment made by the framers of the UN charter 70 years ago to protect the succeeding generation from the scourge of war. Regrettably, he observed, the world was currently witnessing another descent into war in Gaza, characterized by what he unequivocally labeled as genocide.
Expressing deep concern, Kakar deplored the heart-wrenching images of slain women and children, the killing of UN officials, and the destruction of buildings. He accused Israel of transforming Gaza into a ‘living hell’ and condemned these atrocities in the strongest terms possible.
Furthermore, Kakar underscored the imperative of recognizing that international law unequivocally prohibits the infliction of such pain on innocent civilians in Gaza.
Kakar further urged world leaders to ensure an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian assistance. While he acknowledged the ‘hectic’ diplomatic efforts of regional countries, he emphasized that the primary responsibility rested with the members of the UN Security Council to guarantee global peace and security. He commended the UN Secretary-General for his efforts in calling for an end to hostilities and the facilitation of humanitarian aid.
In addition, Kakar called on the international media to objectively report on the ‘carnage’ in Gaza. He attributed the current crisis to Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories, warning that the issue could potentially engulf the entire region. Kakar highlighted the UN’s explicit identification of the risk of genocide and ethnic cleansing by the occupying power, emphasizing that such injustice could lead to future conflicts.
According to Kakar, the only lasting solution lies in establishing a secure, viable, and contiguous state of Palestine based on the pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Sharif as its capital. He urged all countries present at the conference to work towards this goal with a sense of urgency. Overall, PM Kakar demands immediate end to Gaza carnage, emphasizing Palestinian statehood on pre-1967 borders amid dire conditions.
Kakar stressed the immediate need for relief in Gaza, echoing the calls for an immediate ceasefire, the lifting of the blockade, and the creation of conditions to provide essential resources such as food, water, and electricity.
He proposed that the OIC should explore initiating proceedings against Israel in the International Court of Justice under the genocide convention. Kakar also urged the UN to establish a special commission to investigate Israel’s war crimes. He called for an end to settler activities and emphasized the necessity of finding a political solution to the issue.
In a heartfelt conclusion, Kakar expressed prayers to Allah for alleviating the suffering of Palestinian brothers and sisters. Overall,
