ISLAMABAD: Acting Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Irfan Sadaat Khan, was sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court on Friday.
The oath was administered by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa in a ceremony attended by judges from the apex court, the Attorney General, and lawyers.
Justice Irfan Sadaat Khan’s nomination as a judge of the Supreme Court was unanimously approved by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP). Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa emphasized that Justice Irfan Saadat Khan met the necessary criteria, possessing knowledge, extensive experience, versatility, an upright character, and being the most senior Judge among the chief justices and judges of all the high courts.
Prior to his appointment as a Supreme Court judge, Justice Sadaat Khan served as the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court for over six years. He was initially elevated as a judge of the Sindh High Court in September 2009, and later, in March 2017, he assumed the position of Chief Justice.
Islamabad Police Suspends Three Officials Over Mishandling of Afghan Refugees’ Possessions
Meanwhile, In response to reports of Afghan refugees not receiving their possessions upon leaving the country, Islamabad police has taken action by suspending three officials. The Inspector General, Nasir Akbar Khan, became aware of complaints regarding this issue and initiated a response.

Consequently, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) operations suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) of Shalimar police station, the administrative officer, and the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) involved in the matter. Additionally, the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer has ordered a departmental inquiry to investigate the actions of these officials.
Following the expiration of the voluntary return deadline on November 1, authorities began detaining refugees and relocating them to holding camps, where they are held until deportation can be arranged.
