Police have intensified efforts in the murder case of Javed Butt, the brother-in-law of Teefi Butt, by conducting a raid at the residence of the main accused, Ameer Fateh, following the rejection of his interim bail.
According to sources, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) carried out the raid at Ameer Fateh’s house located in Lahore’s Rang Mahal area. The operation took place shortly after Fateh was released on bail in a separate matter. However, investigators found the house locked, with the accused having allegedly fled along with his family to an undisclosed location.
Sources said the development prompted authorities to expand the search operation, as Ameer Fateh is believed to be in hiding to evade arrest. Law enforcement agencies have stepped up surveillance and intelligence gathering to trace his whereabouts.
During the raid, the JIT detained three employees working for Ameer Fateh. The individuals were taken into custody for questioning, as investigators believe they may have information regarding the accused’s movements and current location.
Officials said the questioning could provide critical leads in tracking Fateh, who has been declared a co-accused by the JIT during the course of the investigation.
Earlier on the same day, the Lahore Sessions Court rejected Ameer Fateh’s interim bail plea. Additional Sessions Judge Saifullah Hanjra announced the verdict after reviewing the police report submitted during the previous hearing. The court’s decision has further intensified pressure on the accused, who now faces the prospect of arrest.
Javed Butt was shot dead last year by unidentified motorcyclists on The Mall Road, one of Lahore’s busiest thoroughfares.
The high-profile killing sparked widespread attention due to the victim’s family background and the circumstances surrounding the attack. The case was registered at Ichhra Police Station, and multiple investigative angles have since been explored.
Police officials have reiterated that the investigation remains ongoing and that all individuals involved in the murder will be brought to justice. Authorities say raids and arrests will continue as part of efforts to resolve the case and apprehend the suspects at the earliest.
