Jared Kushner, former White House adviser and son-in-law of Donald Trump, has made comments regarding Gaza’s potential as “waterfront property,” suggesting its significant value and proposing that Israel should evacuate civilians to facilitate the area’s development.
In a recent interview, Kushner expressed his views, which were later shared on the YouTube channel of the Middle East Initiative, a program affiliated with Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
Kushner remarked, “Gaza’s waterfront property, it could be very valuable, if people would focus on building up livelihoods.”
He further recommended from Israel’s perspective, efforts should be made to relocate the population and then undertake redevelopment initiatives.
During the same interview, Kushner hinted at the possibility of relocating civilians from Rafah, potentially to Egypt, through diplomatic channels.
Additionally, he proposed a plan for the Negev desert in southern Israel, suggesting the removal of existing structures to make room for new settlements. Despite acknowledging potential controversy, Kushner believed this approach would be beneficial in completing developmental goals.
Addressing Israel’s actions in protecting civilians during conflicts, Kushner stated, “I think Israel’s gone way more out of their way than a lot of other countries would, to try to protect civilians from casualties.”
Meanwhile, the Gaza Health Ministry reported a staggering death toll and injuries resulting from ongoing Israeli attacks, with over 31,923 fatalities and 74,096 individuals wounded, along with more than 10,000 missing under debris.
These casualties represent approximately 5% of Gaza’s total population of 2.3 million.
