Party Finalises Protest Strategy in Islamabad
Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad has announced a major sit-in for August 7 against rising inflation and high petrol prices.
The party says increasing fuel costs have placed additional pressure on households, workers and small businesses. It plans to mobilise supporters across the federal capital before the main protest.
An important meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami’s political committee was held to finalise the protest agenda. Senior party members reviewed preparations and approved a series of activities leading up to the August 7 sit-in.
The committee also discussed public mobilisation, organisational responsibilities and participation from different areas of Islamabad.
Mosque Protests and Motorcycle Rallies Planned
Jamaat-e-Islami will begin its protest campaign on July 31.
Demonstrations will be held outside several mosques across Islamabad. Party workers and local supporters are expected to participate after prayers.
The protests will highlight public concerns over petrol prices, inflation and the rising cost of essential goods.
Jamaat-e-Islami Youth will organise motorcycle rallies in all zones of Islamabad on August 2. The rallies will be led by local youth leaders and party representatives.
The party aims to use the rallies to build momentum for the main sit-in. Workers will also encourage residents to join the August 7 protest.
Women’s Protest Scheduled Before Main Sit-In
A major women’s demonstration will be held outside the National Press Club on August 6.
Female party members and supporters are expected to raise concerns about household expenses, electricity bills, fuel costs and food inflation.
The women’s protest will take place one day before the main sit-in. Jamaat-e-Islami believes the event will strengthen public participation in its wider campaign.
The August 7 sit-in is expected to bring together party workers, youth groups, women and residents from different parts of Islamabad.
Jamaat-e-Islami has not yet announced the exact location and timing of the sit-in. Further details are expected before the protest date.
