ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami have reinitiated contact, hinting at a potential revival of their political ties. A meeting between the leadership of both parties is slated to occur in Islamabad later this Friday evening.
This gathering aims to foster collaboration and discuss areas of mutual interest, drawing representatives from both PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami. Liaquat Baloch, the Naib Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami, will be leading his delegation.
The resumption of dialogue follows reports of PTI leader Aamir Dogar reaching out to Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson Qaisar Sharif to kick-start discussions.
According to Sharif, Dogar conveyed PTI’s interest in a meeting with the JI leadership, with Asad Qaiser leading PTI’s negotiation team.
Additionally, PTI leader Sardar Latif Khosa contacted Jamaat-e-Islami’s Naib Emir Liaquat Baloch, highlighting the significance of cooperation between the two parties. Khosa emphasized the principled stance of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Emir Sirajul Haq on political collaboration, suggesting a potential alliance beyond Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the federal level.
Khosa revealed plans to meet PTI Founder Imran Khan before reaching out to Jamaat-e-Islami’s leadership, ensuring an open channel of negotiation in political discourse.
Baloch affirmed the perpetual openness of communication channels between political entities.
Earlier, Liaquat Baloch had mentioned PTI’s post-election outreach to JI, aiming for a common strategy in the new political landscape.
