President Asif Ali Zardari delivered a strong political message in Rahim Yar Khan, declaring that jail is a place for worship and sacrifice for true leaders. He emphasized that political workers must show courage and stand firm during difficult times.
He addressed party ticket-holders, office-bearers, and workers at Jamaldinwali, located about 40 kilometers from Rahim Yar Khan. During his speech, he stressed that leadership demands resilience and personal sacrifice.
Leadership and Sacrifice
Without naming PTI founder Imran Khan directly, Zardari criticized complaints regarding jail conditions. He suggested that some leaders began expressing discomfort shortly after their detention. According to him, such complaints reflect a lack of endurance.
He remarked that leaders sometimes complain about eye pain or the absence of basic comforts. However, he insisted that true political leadership requires strength and perseverance. Therefore, he urged party workers not to fear imprisonment.
Zardari reminded the audience that he himself spent 14 years in jail. Despite hardships, he claimed he never lost courage. Moreover, he described prison as a place of reflection and spiritual growth.
“Jail is a place for worship, and prayers offered there are answered,” he stated. Consequently, he framed imprisonment as a test of faith and commitment.
Message to Party Workers
Zardari encouraged political activists to remain steadfast in challenging circumstances. He advised them not to panic if authorities arrest them. Instead, he said they should treat such moments as part of political struggle.
Furthermore, he pledged to continue working for Pakistan’s development. He declared that he would not step down until his mission was complete. As a result, his remarks aimed to boost morale within party ranks.
He also predicted a strong electoral future for the Pakistan People’s Party. According to him, the party will one day secure a two-thirds majority. He added that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would eventually become prime minister.
Stance on Privatisation
During his address, Zardari also spoke about privatisation. He argued that national assets belong to the people. Therefore, he maintained that such assets should not be sold.
He stressed the importance of protecting public resources. Moreover, he positioned his party as a defender of national interests.
Visit to South Punjab
Earlier in the day, Zardari arrived at Shaikh Zayed Airport. He then traveled to Jamaldinwali, the native area of PPP South Punjab leader Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood. He is expected to stay there for two more days.
His visit aims to strengthen party organization in the region. Additionally, it reflects efforts to consolidate political support ahead of future challenges.
Zardari’s speech combined criticism, reflection, and political ambition. Through strong remarks on imprisonment and leadership, he sought to define resilience as the true test of political character.
