A false death report claiming legendary Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan has died has gone viral online, alarming fans worldwide.
Social media users have circulated a black-and-white image of Chan featuring the dates “1954-2026,” falsely suggesting that the 72-year-old actor has passed away.
However, there is no credible report confirming Chan’s death. The actor, whose birth name is Fang Shilong, remains alive and has continued appearing publicly.
How The Jackie Chan Death Hoax Spread
The false claims quickly spread across social media platforms, with several posts attracting millions of views within hours.
One widely shared post reportedly received more than eight million views, despite providing no credible evidence or official confirmation of Chan’s alleged death.
Such celebrity death hoaxes frequently gain traction online when users share realistic tribute images without checking the original source. As a result, fans can easily mistake fabricated posts for genuine breaking news.
Chan’s Recent Public Appearance Contradicts Claims
Chan reportedly made his latest public appearance on July 7 during a visit to Pei Chun Public School in Singapore.
According to Singapore’s The Straits Times, Chan attended an event organized by the Lim Family Foundation and interacted with more than 900 students during the visit.
Videos shared after the event also showed Chan singing “Hard to Say Goodbye,” further contradicting the viral claims about his death.
Chan has enjoyed a career spanning more than six decades and remains one of the world’s most recognizable action stars. His celebrated filmography includes Rush Hour, Police Story and Drunken Master, among numerous other successful productions.
