ISLAMABAD: A domestic passenger scheduled to travel from Lahore to Karachi was flown to Jeddah by a private airline, despite not possessing a passport or visa—a serious lapse attributed to airline negligence.
The error, which led to the passenger’s detention in Jeddah, sparked outrage after the airline allegedly placed the blame on the traveller. When he asked to be returned to Karachi, the airline insisted he purchase a new ticket.
“It wasn’t my fault; due to the airline’s mistake, I ended up in Jeddah,” the passenger stated.
Authorities have taken notice of the incident and initiated an inquiry into how an individual without valid travel documents managed to board an international flight.
In response, the Pakistan Airports Authority has issued a formal letter to the Civil Aviation Authority and the airline’s station manager, demanding strict action. The authority has also called for a substantial fine to be imposed on the airline for this grave security and operational failure.
