The Israeli military has launched an official investigation into the killing of a seven-month-old Palestinian infant in the occupied West Bank. The incident occurred during a shooting involving Israeli forces in the city of Hebron.
The case has triggered renewed scrutiny over the use of force in the region. It also comes amid rising tensions linked to ongoing violence in the West Bank since late 2023.
Baby Killed During Hebron Shooting Incident
According to Palestinian sources, the infant, identified as Sam Fahd Abou Haikal, was killed when Israeli forces opened fire on a family vehicle.
The childโs parents were also lightly injured in the incident. The shooting took place in Hebron on Friday.

Rising Violence in the West Bank
The West Bank has witnessed near-daily violence since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.
The conflict began after Hamas launched an attack on Israel, leading to a large-scale Israeli military response in Gaza.
Since then, the occupied West Bank has seen repeated clashes involving Israeli forces, settlers, and Palestinian residents.
Casualty Figures Highlight Ongoing Conflict
Data compiled from Palestinian health authorities indicates that at least 1,080 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since October 2023.
These include both civilians and individuals identified as militants.
On the Israeli side, official figures report at least 46 deaths during the same period. These casualties include both civilians and security personnel killed in attacks or military operations.
Broader Context of Escalating Tensions
The latest incident adds to growing concerns about civilian safety in the West Bank. It also highlights the complexity of security operations in densely populated areas.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the ongoing investigation. However, the case is expected to draw significant attention as inquiries proceed.
For now, the focus remains on determining accountability and clarifying the circumstances that led to the tragic death of the infant in Hebron.
