Israeli media claims Eyal Zamir visited Abu Dhabi
TEL AVIV: Israeli media reports claim that Israeli military Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir secretly traveled to the United Arab Emirates during the recent conflict involving Iran and held meetings with senior Emirati leadership.
According to Israel’s Broadcasting Authority, Zamir visited the UAE during active regional tensions and conducted discussions with high-ranking officials regarding security and regional developments.
The report stated that Zamir met with Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan along with other senior Emirati officials during the unannounced visit.
Furthermore, Israeli media suggested the discussions focused on regional security coordination, military developments, and broader geopolitical concerns linked to the Iran conflict.
However, neither Israeli nor Emirati authorities immediately issued official public statements confirming the reported meetings.
The alleged visit highlights continuing security contacts between Israel and the UAE following the establishment of diplomatic relations under the Abraham Accords.
Regional tensions drive growing security coordination
Meanwhile, analysts believe the reported meetings reflect increasing cooperation between regional allies amid growing instability across the Middle East.
Since the escalation involving Iran, several countries in the region have intensified diplomatic and security consultations to address concerns over military escalation, maritime security, and regional defence coordination.
Additionally, observers say the UAE has maintained a cautious diplomatic approach while simultaneously strengthening strategic partnerships with regional and international actors.
The reported visit also underscores the importance of behind-the-scenes communication channels during periods of heightened regional tension.
At the same time, officials across the Middle East continue advocating diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing broader conflict and protecting economic stability in the region.
Although details of the alleged meetings remain limited, the reports have attracted significant attention due to the sensitive timing and ongoing geopolitical developments involving Iran, Israel, and Gulf states.
Neither the United Arab Emirates nor Israel commented publicly on the purpose or outcomes of the reported discussions.
