At least four people were killed and 20 others injured in Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Sunday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
The strikes hit several areas in the Nabatieh district, including Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Arab Salim and Kfar Remman.
The attacks came despite a US-brokered framework agreement aimed at reducing hostilities and facilitating the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.
Women and Children Among Those Injured
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said two people were killed and two others injured in Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
Another eight people, including a woman and a girl, were wounded in the Al-Rahibat neighbourhood of Nabatieh.
In Arab Salim, two women were killed in an Israeli strike. Six other people, including two girls, were injured.
Four women were also wounded in Kfar Remman, according to the ministry.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes targeted a house in Arab Salim. Emergency teams transported the injured to hospitals in Nabatieh.
Another house in the same area was reportedly completely destroyed.
Israeli aircraft also struck the home of Ali Moallem, a former mayor of Kfar Remman, near the town’s industrial area. Several people were reportedly injured in that attack.
Israeli Strikes Continue Despite US Framework
The latest attacks come amid renewed Israeli military activity in southern Lebanon.
Israel has intensified airstrikes in the region in recent days following claims by the Israeli military that it intercepted a drone allegedly launched by Hezbollah toward Israeli forces operating in what Israel describes as a security zone.
The strikes have raised concerns about the future of the US-sponsored framework agreement signed on June 26.
The agreement calls for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army in areas covered by the arrangement.
Despite the agreement, Israeli forces have continued military operations in southern Lebanon.
Rising Humanitarian Toll
Lebanese authorities say Israeli attacks since March 2 have killed 4,358 people and injured 12,359 others.
More than one million people have also been displaced by the conflict.
Israel continues to maintain positions in parts of southern Lebanon. These include areas it has held for decades as well as territory occupied during the 2023-2024 conflict.
Lebanese officials say Israeli forces have also advanced more than 10 kilometres into Lebanese territory during the current conflict.
The continued strikes have raised fears that the fragile framework could face further pressure as violence persists in southern Lebanon.
Local authorities and emergency services continue to respond to casualties and damage while diplomatic efforts remain focused on preventing a wider escalation.
