ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani called for stopping Israel from taking such actions in Gaza which amounted to crimes against humanity, the ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement.

During an urgent ministerial meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on Wednesday, Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, who led Pakistan’s delegation in the OIC meeting co-convened by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in Jeddah, denounced Israeli air strikes on civilians.
He called upon the international community to ensure that Israel faces accountability for its use of indiscriminate and disproportionate force, constituting war crimes.
Jilani further called for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of humanitarian corridors to provide essential supplies such as food, water, medicines, and fuel to the Palestinians in Gaza.
He emphasized that Israel’s deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure, medical services, educational institutions, civic services, and medical workers disregards the norms of international humanitarian law and the laws of armed conflict.
Jilani also underlined that the root cause of the violence in the region stems from the prolonged and illegal occupation of Palestine.
