Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated major road infrastructure projects in Islamabad on Thursday. The projects aim to improve traffic movement between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The inauguration included the T-Chowk Flyover and the Islamabad Expressway Signal-Free Corridor. Both projects focus on reducing congestion and travel delays.
Flyover Completed in Record Time
The T-Chowk Flyover, also known as the Iqbal Chowk Flyover, was completed in just 77 days. The project was built at a total cost of Rs1.4 billion.
The prime minister praised the swift execution of the project. He highlighted the efficiency of the team overseeing the construction.
According to him, such speed reflects improved planning and coordination. As a result, commuters can now benefit sooner from upgraded infrastructure.
Credit Given to Project Leadership
The prime minister commended Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for leading the effort. He also praised the chairman of the Capital Development Authority and their teams.
He noted that several infrastructure initiatives were completed under their leadership. These projects aim to support daily commuters and transporters using the capital’s road network.
Moreover, the prime minister said teamwork played a key role in meeting tight deadlines.
Commitment to Transparency and Quality
During the ceremony, the prime minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency. He stressed that quality remains a priority in development projects.
He said public service would remain central to the government’s agenda. Therefore, infrastructure upgrades will continue across the city.
The prime minister also appreciated officials for taking difficult administrative decisions. These included removing long-standing encroachments and illegal constructions.
Encroachments Addressed After Decades
Illegal encroachments had blocked urban planning efforts for many years. These obstacles delayed several development projects across Islamabad.
The prime minister acknowledged that addressing these issues required strong resolve. He said resolving them helped clear the way for faster execution.
As a result, infrastructure planning has become more effective and practical.
Improved Traffic Flow Expected
The new flyover and signal-free corridor are expected to ease daily traffic pressure. Commuters traveling between Islamabad and Rawalpindi should experience smoother journeys.
Officials believe the project will reduce travel time and improve road safety. Consequently, traffic flow is expected to remain consistent during peak hours.
