ISLAMABAD: In response to the long march request from the previous governing party, PTI, the government has once again decided to block Islamabad by placing containers along the sides of major roadways in the federal capital.
There will be as many as 17,000 security personnel stationed in Islamabad, according to a press statement from the Islamabad police.
In the Red Zone, home to parliament, the presidential mansion, and a slew of embassies, containers have already been set up. Containers will be used to close off more of the city in accordance with security agency orders. So far, containers have been set up along the sides of the road at Faizabad, D-Chowk, NADRA Chowk, Margalla Road, and Motorway Chowk, among other locations.
Tear gas, water cannons, and prisoner vans would be provided to the security forces. The district administration will make the final decision.
