Islamabad has tightened security as the capital prepares for the arrival of multiple foreign delegations. Authorities have sealed key areas, including the highly sensitive Red Zone, while large-scale security operations are underway across the city. The move comes amid expectations of high-level diplomatic engagements in the coming days.
Officials have introduced strict traffic restrictions and deployment plans to manage the situation. At the same time, citizens have been advised to follow alternate routes to avoid inconvenience during the heightened security period.
Red Zone Locked Down and Traffic Suspended
The Islamabad Police announced that the Red Zone Islamabad and Extended Red Zone will remain fully closed to all traffic. This decision has been taken due to the expected movement of foreign delegations in the capital.
In addition, Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon confirmed that public and heavy transport services have been suspended. This restriction will remain in place until further notice. Meanwhile, Rawalpindi administration has also halted all public and goods transport to support coordinated security efforts.
Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. They have also asked commuters to use designated alternative routes to reduce congestion. As a result, traffic flow across twin cities remains heavily regulated.
Massive Security Deployment Across Twin Cities
Security arrangements have been significantly expanded in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi. According to officials, thousands of personnel have been deployed across strategic locations. Law enforcement agencies are working in coordination to ensure complete protection.
Reports indicate that advance foreign teams have already arrived at Nur Khan Airbase. These arrivals have triggered additional security measures at entry and exit points. Separate protocols have been activated for VVIP movement across the capital.
Authorities have deployed around 2,800 police personnel, including 130 snipers, on rooftops and sensitive buildings. At the airbase, 400 commandos, including 100 snipers, are responsible for securing arrivals and departures. These units are working under strict surveillance protocols.
Furthermore, Islamabad Police and Punjab Police, along with Federal Constabulary units, are jointly managing the operation. More than 10,000 personnel have been placed on high alert across the region.
Tight Restrictions and Diplomatic Developments
Security officials have also ordered the closure of hotels, guest houses, and hostels in Islamabad. Managements have been instructed to vacate premises until further notice. In addition, recreational trails in the Margalla Hills area, including Trails 2, 3, 4, and 5, have been closed for public access.
These measures are linked to possible diplomatic activity in the capital. Although no official confirmation has been issued, reports suggest preparations for a second round of talks between the United States and Iran are underway. However, no dates have been finalized yet.
