Authorities in Islamabad sealed 92 buildings and premises during September 2026 for violating fire and life safety regulations.
The action was taken by Capital Emergency Services under enforcement measures directed by Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi and CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf.
The CDA Building Emergency Audit and Prevention Wing carried out 154 fire and life safety audits across the federal capital.
Inspections covered hospitals, government offices, commercial properties and residential buildings.
According to official figures, the inspected locations included 115 hospitals, 29 government buildings, six commercial properties and four residential buildings.
Authorities sealed 92 premises after finding violations of mandatory fire safety requirements.
The sealed properties included 78 commercial shops, eight high-rise buildings, four residential properties and three government buildings.
The enforcement operation also resulted in 288 challans.
Authorities recovered Rs. 2.4 million in penalties from different cases. Commercial violations accounted for Rs. 1.7 million, while hospitals paid Rs. 700,000.
Another Rs. 510,000 was collected as fees for 102 commercial fire and life safety plans.
Officials also identified fire safety deficiencies in 150 hospitals. Many were found to have inadequate firefighting equipment and other safety shortcomings.
The concerned institutions have been directed to comply fully with Islamabad’s fire safety regulations and building codes.
Capital Emergency Services said enforcement will continue against buildings that fail to meet required standards.
Properties that complete the necessary safety improvements can be reopened after verification by authorities.
The latest crackdown highlights growing concern over emergency preparedness in Islamabad’s commercial, residential and public buildings.
Authorities are expected to continue inspections as part of wider efforts to reduce fire risks and improve public safety across the capital.
