Another 20 head constables were promoted to assistant sub-inspector.
The move is aimed at recognising professional service and filling important positions within the capital police structure.
Police authorities said promotions were made according to departmental rules, seniority and performance criteria.
The newly promoted officers will now take on greater responsibilities in policing, investigations, field operations and public safety duties.
Senior officials congratulated the officers and encouraged them to perform their duties with greater dedication.
They stressed that promotion brings added responsibility and requires stronger professional standards.
Islamabad Police have recently focused on improving internal management, officer training and operational capacity across the federal capital.
Career progression is considered important for maintaining morale within the police force.
Regular promotions can also help ensure that experienced personnel move into supervisory and decision-making positions.
Officials said merit and transparency remain important parts of the departmental promotion system.
The newly promoted officers are expected to continue serving in different units and police stations across Islamabad.
The latest round of promotions also reflects efforts to strengthen the command structure of the capital police.
Islamabad Police continue to face a wide range of responsibilities, including crime prevention, traffic management, security operations and protection of important government installations.
The promotion of 40 officers is expected to support these operations by placing experienced personnel in more senior roles.
