Islamabad police and administration
The Interior Ministry has approved the purchase of 20 double-cabin vehicles for Islamabad police and administration. Officials confirmed the decision on Thursday, emphasizing that the move aims to improve mobility and operational efficiency across the federal capital.
Equal Distribution Between Police and Administration
According to details, the vehicles will be divided equally between the Islamabad police and the city administration. Ten vehicles will go to the police, while the other ten will be allocated to the administration. Authorities believe this equal distribution will strengthen field operations as well as administrative functions.
Vehicles for Assistant Commissioners and Senior Officials
All eight assistant commissioners in Islamabad will each receive a double-cabin vehicle under the new arrangement. Additionally, the additional deputy commissioner general will also be provided with one of the newly purchased vehicles. This allocation ensures senior officials have adequate resources for official mobility.
Boost for Police Operations Division
On the policing side, the Operations Division will receive significant support. Superintendents of Police (SPs) assigned to this division will now have access to double-cabin vehicles. Furthermore, senior officers including the SSP (operations), SSP (investigation), SSP (security), and the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) are also designated recipients. Authorities say this move will enhance response times and field coordination.
Future Expansion Planned
Officials also revealed that more vehicles will be allocated next month. The SP (Dolphin) will receive a double-cabin vehicle, which will specifically enhance patrolling and quick-response capabilities within Islamabad. Sources added that similar additions may follow to further modernize the fleet.
Strengthening Policing and Governance
This procurement highlights the government’s focus on strengthening both governance and policing in the capital. By providing modern vehicles, the Interior Ministry aims to ensure that officers can respond quickly to challenges while maintaining effective administrative oversight.
