The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has officially suspended the “Learner Period Condonation” (LPC) process, which allowed certain individuals to bypass the mandatory 42-day learning period for a driving license. This decision comes after reports emerged of widespread misuse by social media influencers and local touts who were allegedly charging citizens to expedite their license processing.
According to senior police officials, the “fast-track” shortcut was being used for financial gain rather than genuine emergencies. Under the Motor Vehicle Ordinance (MVO), the 42-day wait is a legal requirement designed to ensure road safety. While senior officers previously had the discretion to waive this period, that authority has been revoked to ensure transparency and equality for all citizens.
