NADRA launches online birth and death certificates
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a major digital convenience for citizens by removing the need to visit union councils for birth and death registrations.
As part of its drive towards a “Digital Pakistan,” NADRA has launched an online system that allows citizens to register births and deaths from the comfort of their homes through its Pak ID mobile application. Information submitted through the app will be sent directly to the relevant union council, eliminating the need for a physical visit.
The service has been launched initially in the following pilot districts:
- Chakwal – 71 union councils
- Jhelum – 44 union councils
- Nankana Sahib – 65 union councils
NADRA has announced plans to expand the facility nationwide in phases, enabling all citizens across Pakistan to benefit from the system.
In addition, NADRA offers the Pak-Identity Portal for various online services, including CNIC renewals, reprints, and modifications.
However, first-time CNIC applications still require in-person registration to ensure accurate verification.
The first-time ID card process is a key step in formally recognizing citizens, giving them the ability to fully participate in national affairs. NADRA has simplified its registration procedures to make identity services more accessible.
