Islamabad Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Tri-Nations Cricket Series, scheduled to take place from November 18 to November 29 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Authorities have warned that the movement of cricket teams between Islamabad and the stadium is likely to impact traffic flow on match days, especially during peak hours.
To manage the expected congestion, more than 300 Islamabad Traffic Police officers will be deployed across key routes.
Officials specifically highlighted that the Expressway and Srinagar Highway may experience slower traffic due to team convoys and increased vehicular movement associated with the series. Commuters have been advised to plan ahead and leave with an additional 15 to 20 minutes of travel time to avoid delays.
The traffic police emphasized that every effort would be made to minimize inconvenience for motorists. Real-time traffic updates will be available through the Islamabad Police’s official social media platforms and via FM 92.4, allowing residents to stay informed about any disruptions or alternate routes during the series.
Authorities have also urged the public to cooperate with officers on duty and exercise patience during team movements and match timings.
For emergencies, residents can contact the Police Helpline at 15 or the Traffic Helpline at 1915. The advisory underscores the importance of proactive planning by commuters to ensure smooth travel while supporting the safe and efficient management of the event.
The Tri-Nations Cricket Series is expected to draw large crowds, adding to the usual traffic in and around the city. Authorities have reiterated that the cooperation of citizens will be crucial in maintaining order and reducing congestion.
By following official guidance and staying updated through the provided channels, residents can navigate match days with minimal disruption, while enjoying the international cricket action taking place in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
