ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad today extended the physical remand of Mushtaq Ahmad for four days in a case linked to a Kashmir protest. Senator Mushtaq Ahmad and co-accused Daniyal appeared before the court today after completing their initial three-day physical remand. Consequently, the prosecution sought additional remaind for further investigation.
Duty Judge Abdul Ghafoor presided over the hearing and considered arguments presented by both sides before issuing the order.
During the proceedings, prosecutors argued that the investigation remained incomplete. They told the court that police had yet to recover a vehicle and weapons allegedly connected to the case. The prosecution requested a 30-day physical remand to complete the recovery process and gather additional evidence. Furthermore, it maintained that more time was essential for the ongoing investigation.
After reviewing the request, the court granted only a four-day extension instead of the full 30-day remand sought by investigators. Therefore, the accused will remain in police custody during the extended period.
The case was registered at the Shalimar Police Station in connection with the Kashmir protest. Meanwhile, investigators are continuing efforts to collect evidence and complete the inquiry.
The prosecution is expected to present further progress before the court after the extended remand concludes. Accordingly, the case will proceed under the relevant legal procedures as the investigation continues.
