Crackdown on Non-Compliant Properties
The Islamabad administration sealed six buildings, including a marquee along the Expressway, after detecting dengue larvae. The inspection drive, led by the Assistant Commissioner of Nilore, took place on Wednesday. It aimed to enforce dengue prevention protocols across the federal capital.
Officials confirmed that the sealed properties were identified as major contributors to dengue spread due to stagnant water. They further explained that the management of these buildings ignored safety guidelines and failed to comply with issued directives.
Failure to Follow Health SOPs
During inspections, teams discovered that property managers had not implemented the standard operating procedures set by district health authorities. These SOPs require strict measures to prevent mosquito breeding in vulnerable areas. Authorities declared such negligence unacceptable, as it endangers public health during peak dengue season.
The assistant commissioner highlighted that the operation formed part of a wider preventive campaign across Islamabad. He stressed that controlling dengue requires timely actions to ensure safe and hygienic conditions.
Public Responsibility and Preventive Measures
Officials reminded citizens that dengue control cannot succeed without public participation. They urged property owners to inspect rooftops, lawns, basements, and construction sites regularly. Additionally, owners must eliminate stagnant water to prevent mosquito breeding.
Inspection teams also delivered warning notices to nearby properties found partially violating SOPs. They clarified that persistent violators could face fines and even sealing orders in the future.
Stronger Enforcement Against Negligence
Authorities underlined that both residential and commercial negligence could lead to serious health risks for the community. Therefore, strict enforcement of dengue prevention rules will continue across the capital. They also encouraged residents to cooperate with inspection teams and adopt recommended practices to help curb the disease.
