Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar departed for Jordan on Tuesday night to attend a ministerial meeting on the worsening situation in occupied Jerusalem. The meeting will take place in Amman on Wednesday.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar will attend the conference at the invitation of Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi. The gathering aims to develop a unified position on the rapidly deteriorating situation in occupied Jerusalem.
The meeting will bring together foreign ministers from Arab League members and several Islamic countries, including Pakistan. Additionally, participants will discuss key regional developments concerning Palestine.
Regional Leaders To Hold Consultations
The Foreign Office said participating ministers will also call on Jordan’s King Abdullah II during the visit. Meanwhile, Dar is expected to hold bilateral meetings with several regional counterparts.
Officials said the discussions will cover the situation in Palestine and other issues of mutual interest. Consequently, the meetings will provide an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic coordination.
Pakistan described Dar’s participation as a reflection of its continued support for the Palestinian people. Furthermore, Islamabad reaffirmed its commitment to a sovereign and independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders.
Focus On Jerusalem And Gaza
Senior officials from Türkiye, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Indonesia, Bahrain, Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Somalia, Malaysia, and Pakistan are expected to attend.
The participants will discuss preserving the historical and legal status of Jerusalem’s holy sites. Moreover, they will review developments in occupied East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Gaza ceasefire process.
The meeting will also examine international efforts to advance a two-state solution and address recent developments related to the Palestinian issue.
