Israeli Arab politician Ahmad Tibi has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of seeking another election while allegedly preparing for renewed military confrontation with Iran.
Tibi, who leads the Joint Arab List parliamentary bloc, made the allegations during an interview with Anadolu news agency.
He claimed Netanyahu could attempt to remain caretaker prime minister while coordinating military action against Iran with US President Donald Trump after the American midterm elections.
However, these allegations remain unverified.
Arab Leader Urges Opposition to Block Netanyahu
Tibi called on opposition parties to form an alternative government led by Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar party.
He said the Joint Arab List was prepared to support the formation of a new government without formally joining the governing coalition.
The party would seek commitments addressing the needs of Arab communities in exchange for parliamentary cooperation.
Israeli Election Results Leave Parties Without Majority
Tuesday’s parliamentary elections produced a divided political landscape.
According to preliminary results, Netanyahu’s bloc secured 53 seats, while opposition parties obtained 48.
Arab parties won 19 seats in Israel’s 120-member parliament.
A governing coalition requires at least 61 seats.
The results have placed Arab lawmakers in an important position during coalition negotiations.
Tibi Rejects Election Fraud Allegations
Tibi also rejected accusations of electoral fraud involving Arab voters.
He argued that strong Arab voter turnout prevented Netanyahu’s political bloc from securing a parliamentary majority.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Central Elections Committee completed counting special ballots, with final results expected later.
President Isaac Herzog will consult political parties before assigning a candidate to form the next government.
The political uncertainty leaves coalition negotiations central to Israel’s next leadership decision.
