Tehran Announces Expansion of Retaliatory Operation
Iranโs Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday that it had carried out additional missile strikes against what it described as key American military targets in Jordan, marking the latest escalation in regional tensions.
According to a statement issued by the IRGCโs Public Relations Department, the operation followed earlier actions that allegedly targeted 21 American air and naval facilities across the region. The statement also claimed that Iranian forces had downed an MQ-9 drone over Jam County during the recent confrontation.
The IRGC said the latest phase of its retaliatory campaign involved long-range solid-fuel missiles launched by its Aerospace Force. Iranian officials described the strikes as a response to what they called continuing hostile actions by the United States.
The claims have not been independently verified, and no immediate confirmation regarding the reported targets or damage was available from US or Jordanian authorities.
Military Targets and Warning to Washington
According to the IRGC statement, Iranian missiles struck four strategic locations in Jordan, including facilities identified as F-35 fighter jet hangars and a command-and-control center allegedly used by American forces at Al-Azraq Air Base.
Iranian officials asserted that the operation successfully destroyed the designated targets and represented the completion of a broader retaliatory response. The statement emphasized that Iranian military units remain prepared for further action if tensions continue to escalate.
Meanwhile, the IRGC warned that any renewed military action against Iran would trigger what it described as a decisive and crushing response. The organization placed responsibility for any future escalation on the United States, arguing that continued hostilities could further destabilize the region.
The latest claims emerge amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, where military confrontations, missile exchanges, and security concerns have intensified in recent months. Regional observers are closely monitoring developments as fears grow that additional retaliatory actions could widen the scope of the ongoing conflict and further complicate diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring stability.
