Proposed Arrangement Includes Regional De-escalation Measures
TEHRAN: Iranian media outlet Mehr News has published details of what it described as a potential framework for an agreement between the United States and Iran, outlining a broad package of security, economic and diplomatic measures aimed at ending hostilities and creating conditions for future negotiations.
According to the reported framework, the proposal calls for an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon. It also includes commitments related to regional de-escalation, maritime security and future diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
The reported plan further states that Washington would commit to non-interference in Iranโs internal affairs and take steps to end the naval blockade that has affected regional shipping and trade routes.
Economic Measures and Nuclear Negotiations Featured Prominently
Under the reported terms, the United States would suspend sanctions targeting Iranโs oil and gas exports and facilitate broader access to Iranian financial resources held abroad. The framework also reportedly includes the release of $24 billion in blocked Iranian funds during a 60-day negotiation period, with immediate access to half of the amount.
Additionally, the proposal envisions a 60-day diplomatic process focused on reaching a final agreement regarding Iranโs nuclear programme. A joint monitoring mechanism would reportedly oversee implementation and compliance during the negotiation phase.
The framework also calls for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz under arrangements coordinated by Iran, while the United States would reportedly commit to withdrawing military forces positioned around the country.
Reconstruction Package and International Oversight Proposed
One of the most significant elements of the reported proposal is a reconstruction initiative valued at no less than $300 billion. According to Mehr News, the United States and its allies would be expected to present plans aimed at rebuilding infrastructure and supporting economic recovery efforts inside Iran.
Furthermore, the reported framework suggests that any final agreement would receive international backing through a resolution of the United Nations Security Council, providing formal recognition and oversight of the arrangement.
Neither Washington nor Tehran had officially confirmed the reported details at the time of publication, and negotiations remain subject to further diplomatic discussions.
