Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday denied reports claiming he had submitted his resignation during ongoing tensions with the United States. He dismissed the speculation and vowed to remain in office.
“If I were going to resign, I would announce it publicly,” Pezeshkian said during a televised address. “I will not resign, and I will continue the struggle,” he added.
The president also rejected reports of disagreements with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and the armed forces. Instead, he stressed that all state institutions continue working in full coordination.
“Everyone knows that if any disagreement arises, the armed forces would stand with Khamenei,” Pezeshkian said. Earlier, Iranian opposition media claimed he had submitted his resignation several times.
Qatar Pushes Diplomatic Efforts
Meanwhile, Qatar said diplomatic efforts continue to ease tensions between Iran and the United States. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari said Qatar, Pakistan, and Oman remain closely engaged in mediation.
According to Al Jazeera, the mediators continue exchanging proposals between both sides. However, Al Ansari said no clear timeline exists for reaching an agreement.
Additionally, Qatar urged all parties to restore normal navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Officials said diplomatic engagement remains the preferred path toward reducing regional tensions.
Houthis Claim Saudi Airport Drone Strike
Separately, Yemen’s Houthi group claimed responsibility for a drone attack targeting Najran Airport in southern Saudi Arabia. Military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the strike hit a “sensitive target.”
Saree said the attack responded to alleged Saudi drone violations over Yemen’s Saada and Hajjah provinces. He also warned that future airspace violations would receive a similar response.
However, Saudi authorities have not commented on the Houthi claims.
