Iranian commercial vehicle brand Zamyad has formally entered the Pakistani automotive market, showcasing two workhorse pickup models at the Pakistan Auto Parts Show (PAPS) in Karachi. The Zamyad EX and PADRA+ represent the company’s strategic expansion into Pakistan’s growing commercial transport sector.
Heritage Meets Modern Engineering
Zamyad, a subsidiary of Iran’s SAIPA Group, brings over six decades of manufacturing expertise since its 1963 establishment. The company gained prominence producing licensed versions of the iconic Nissan Junior 2000 pickup, evolving these proven designs with contemporary enhancements for demanding commercial applications.
Robust Powertrain Configuration
Both models share identical mechanical specifications: a dependable 2.4-liter petrol engine producing 94 horsepower with 187 Nm of torque. The drivetrain features a 5-speed manual transmission in 2WD configuration, engineered specifically for Pakistan’s diverse terrain and heavy-load commercial requirements.
Purpose-Built Dimensions
These work-focused pickups measure 5,010mm in length, 1,730mm in width, and 1,700mm in height, riding on a 3,030mm wheelbase. The cargo bed dimensions (2,300 ร 1,600 ร 400 mm) provide exceptional hauling capacity for construction, agriculture, and logistics operations.
Practical Features and Safety
Despite their utilitarian focus, both variants include manual air conditioning, power windows, 4-way adjustable driver seats, and Bluetooth-enabled audio systems with USB connectivity. Safety provisions include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), LED daytime running lights, power steering, engine immobilizer, and electrically adjustable mirrors.
Market Positioning and Availability
Official pricing remains undisclosed pending formal market launch. Industry observers anticipate competitive positioning given Zamyad’s commercial-focused approach. The brand’s established reputation across Middle Eastern markets, combined with its proven durability in challenging environments, positions these pickups as compelling alternatives for Pakistani business operators seeking reliable, value-oriented commercial transportation solutions.
