The Iranian Embassy in India has strongly criticised Indian military analyst Gaurav Arya for what it described as spreading false information about the funeral ceremonies of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In a statement posted on X, the embassy said the funeral and burial ceremonies were conducted with complete order, dignity, security, and calm across five cities in two countries. It added that more than 40 million people attended the events and that authorities recorded no security incidents during the ceremonies.
Furthermore, the embassy rejected claims circulating on social media and insisted that the events reflected national unity and public participation.
Response to Social Media Claims
According to the statement, Iran’s diplomatic mission accused opponents of the country and their supporters of attempting to undermine the funeral by spreading fabricated narratives. It claimed these efforts aimed to weaken the image of Iran and its people.
The embassy also urged critics to “open your eyes” and recognise what it described as the country’s resilience and unity instead of believing what it called propaganda and misinformation.
The statement came in response to social media posts by Indian military analyst Gaurav Arya, who questioned the official account of the funeral ceremonies.
The embassy maintained that the ceremonies concluded peacefully and dismissed the allegations as baseless. The exchange highlights the continuing dispute over competing narratives surrounding the funeral, with Iranian officials defending their account while responding publicly to criticism shared on social media.
