TEHRAN: Iran’s Army said on Thursday that it carried out retaliatory missile and drone strikes against US military facilities in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, targeting communications systems, equipment depots, aircraft hangars, troop positions and radar installations.
According to an Iranian military statement, missiles and attack drones struck the US-operated Ahmed Al-Jaber Air Base in Kuwait early Thursday.
The army claimed the strikes damaged satellite communications equipment and fighter aircraft hangars. However, the statement provided no independent assessment of the reported damage.
Iran described the attacks as the 31st wave of its Saeqeh, or Lightning, Operation and said they came in retaliation for recent US strikes that killed Iranian civilians and military personnel.
Iran Claims Damage at Kuwait Air Base
Iranian Health Minister Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi said on Wednesday that at least 18 people were killed in US raids across several Iranian provinces on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Army described Ahmed Al-Jaber Air Base as an important logistics and support facility for US forces in West Asia.
It also claimed the installation plays a significant role in American air operations and regional surveillance activities.
Iran Says UAE Military Facility Also Targeted
Furthermore, Iranian forces launched missiles and drones at Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE, according to the army statement.
The military said it targeted areas used for troop deployments as well as radar systems at the facility.
The Iranian statement did not provide detailed evidence supporting its claims regarding casualties or the extent of damage at either location.
Consequently, the latest reported strikes signal continued military escalation between Iran and the United States, with Tehran portraying its operations against US facilities across the Gulf as retaliation for American attacks on Iranian territory.
