Pilots Describe Low-Altitude Mission Against Camp Buehring
TEHRAN: Iranian Air Force personnel have provided a detailed account of a military operation targeting a US military installation in Kuwait during the height of the conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel earlier this year.
Speaking during a televised broadcast on Wednesday, the operation commander and two crew members described the mission against Camp Buehring as a complex and high-risk strike carried out under strict operational secrecy.
According to the commander, the mission was launched in response to what he described as renewed aggression against Iran. He identified Camp Buehring as a strategically important military facility due to its concentration of troops and equipment.
The pilots said the strike package consisted of fighter aircraft flying at extremely low altitude to avoid radar detection. They explained that the aircraft maintained a flight path well below standard training levels while operating under complete radio silence throughout the mission.
Bombing Run and Evasion Tactics Highlighted
The commander stated that the formation crossed challenging terrain and maritime areas before entering Kuwaiti airspace. Because the mission relied on free-fall munitions, the aircraft reportedly had to fly directly over the target before releasing their payload.
Following the strike, the pilots described conducting deception manoeuvres designed to complicate enemy tracking efforts and avoid interception by air defence systems and fighter aircraft.
Crew members said explosions continued during the withdrawal phase as the aircraft departed the target area and returned safely to Iranian-controlled airspace.
Officials Present Operation as Symbol of Military Resolve
Meanwhile, participating airmen emphasised the determination behind the mission, saying operational success remained the priority regardless of personal risk.
They described the operation as an example of military discipline, coordination, and commitment under wartime conditions.
The televised account comes months after the conflict that erupted in late February, during which Iran launched multiple retaliatory operations against US military positions and Israeli-linked targets across the region.
Iranian officials continue to portray those operations as evidence of the country’s military capabilities and strategic resilience during the conflict.
