Iran’s top diplomat issued a stark warning about the dangers of US-Israeli attacks on the Bushehr nuclear facility. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi highlighted how radioactive fallout could devastate nearby Gulf states rather than harm Tehran itself.
Araghchi took to social media to express his concerns after fresh strikes hit the plant. He pointed out that the US and Israel have bombed Bushehr four times already. Moreover, he drew a sharp contrast with Western criticism of incidents near Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia plant. “Radioactive fallout will end life in GCC capitals, not Tehran,” he declared. In this way, he questioned the selective outrage from the West.
Attacks on petrochemical sites further expose the true aims behind these operations, according to the minister. He argued that such moves reveal deeper motives beyond stated security goals. Meanwhile, the latest assault on Bushehr claimed one life, adding to the mounting toll in the region.
Since the start of the combined attack on Iran by the United States and Israel on February 28, tensions have been rising significantly. To date, more than 1,340 people have died due to the ongoing attacks, including the deceased supreme leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei. In retaliation for the assault, the Iranian government has launched drone attacks on Israeli soil along with other installations in Jordan, Iraq, and the Gulf region housing US troops.
Now, Russia is preparing to withdraw all its personnel from the Bushehr nuclear plant following the ongoing unrest. The regional leadership is carefully observing developments as the crisis has the potential to escalate even further.
