Iran’s Khatam-al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has condemned the latest US military strikes in southern Iran, describing them as a “blatant act of aggression” and warning that the country’s armed forces will respond decisively.
According to Al Jazeera, the military statement said the attacks took place while funeral processions for Iran’s late supreme leader were being held in Iraq, calling the timing of the operation especially provocative.
The military declared that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran would deliver a “crushing response” to what it described as US aggression, signaling a further escalation in tensions between the two countries.
Iran Insists It Alone Controls Safe Passage Through Hormuz
In its statement, the Khatam-al-Anbiya Central Headquarters also rejected any foreign involvement in managing the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime trade routes.
Iran asserted that it alone has the authority to regulate navigation through the strategic waterway and warned against outside interference.
“It is reiterated that the only safe passage for commercial ships and oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz is the route designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the statement said.
The warning comes after the United States carried out strikes on more than 80 Iranian military targets, including air defence systems, coastal radar installations, anti-ship missile sites and naval assets, following recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
The latest exchange of threats has intensified concerns over regional stability and the security of one of the world’s busiest energy shipping corridors, as diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between Washington and Tehran continue alongside growing military confrontation.
