Iran has reaffirmed its commitment to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), while warning that any threat against its leadership or people would trigger an immediate and forceful response. In a statement released on Wednesday, Iranian officials said the provisions of the Islamabad MoU are publicly available and leave no room for differing interpretations. They stressed that all parties involved are expected to uphold the agreement and fulfil their respective obligations.ย The statement warned that any attack targeting Iranโs people or political leadership would be met with what it described as an immediate and powerful response. Officials added that the country remained fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and national interests against any form of aggression.
The statement specifically referred to the United States, saying President Donald Trump had committed Washington to ensuring that Israel adheres to the terms of the understanding. Iranian officials argued that any failure to comply with those commitments would have consequences and warned that Tehran was prepared to respond if necessary.
Iran maintained that the memorandum establishes a clear framework aimed at reducing tensions and preserving regional stability through mutual compliance. At the same time, officials reiterated that Tehran would not tolerate actions it considers hostile or threatening to its national security.
Iran also stressed that it continues to support diplomatic efforts under the memorandum, provided all parties honour their commitments in good faith. However, the statement underscored that diplomacy must be accompanied by respect for agreed obligations and that any violation would receive an appropriate response.
The latest remarks come amid continued regional negotiations and heightened attention to the implementation of the Islamabad MoU, with diplomatic channels remaining active as stakeholders seek to maintain stability and prevent renewed escalation across the region.
