Iran has pledged to resist what it describes as growing US intervention in the region. The statement came as Washington completed a new wave of strikes and Tehran responded with attacks on American military facilities.
Iranian military spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akaminia said the country would continue resisting external pressure. He also stressed Iranโs strategy regarding the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route.
According to Iranโs state news agency IRNA, Tehran believes the United States miscalculated its military approach. Officials argued that Iran retains the ability to maintain influence over the strategic waterway.
Iran Highlights Strait of Hormuz Strategy
Akaminia said Iran would continue efforts to counter US actions across the region. Furthermore, Iranian officials insisted that military strikes would not weaken Tehranโs position in the Strait of Hormuz.
The comments followed a fresh round of US military operations against Iranian targets. Earlier, US Central Command confirmed strikes on command centres, air defence systems, missile sites, and other military facilities.
Meanwhile, Iranian authorities reported attacks on several locations in Hamadan province. Local officials said emergency and relief agencies were placed on full alert following the strikes.
According to Iranian media, no casualties were reported in the attacks. However, authorities continued assessing damage at the affected sites.
Regional Security Concerns Continue to Grow
Separately, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz told US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth that Israeli forces would remain in designated security zones in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.
Katz said the deployments were necessary to protect Israeli borders and communities. His remarks came amid reports of diplomatic discussions regarding Israeli troop withdrawals from parts of southern Lebanon.
Iranian state broadcaster IRIB also reported strikes near Shahid Baghaei Hospital in Ahvaz. The broadcaster claimed families moved children to safer locations following the attacks.
The latest developments underscore growing regional instability as military exchanges and political tensions continue across the Middle East.
